Description

7-layer dip is a crowd-pleasing appetizer made with layers of seasoned beef, creamy refried beans, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, tomatoes, and black olives. Perfect for any occasion, this bold and flavorful dip is customizable and guaranteed to disappear from the table in no time!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey, or other ground meat)
  • 1 can (15 oz) refried beans
  • 1 1/2 cups guacamole (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Mexican blend)
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes (drained)
  • 1/2 cup black olives (sliced)
  • Taco seasoning (or homemade blend of chili powder, cumin, garlic powder)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: Chopped green onions or cilantro, sliced jalapeños (for extra spice)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Beef
Cook the ground beef (or turkey) in a skillet over medium heat. Season with taco seasoning or chili powder, cumin, and garlic powder. Once browned, drain excess fat and set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Layer the Refried Beans
Spread a generous layer of refried beans at the bottom of a shallow dish or large serving platter. You can warm up canned beans in the microwave to make them easier to spread.

  3. Add the Beef Layer
Once the beef has cooled, spread it evenly over the refried beans.

  4. Spread the Guacamole
Add a layer of guacamole over the beef. Use store-bought or homemade guacamole, depending on your preference.

  5. Top with Sour Cream
Spread sour cream on top of the guacamole. If desired, mix taco seasoning into the sour cream for added flavor.

  6. Sprinkle the Cheese
Add a generous layer of shredded cheese on top of the sour cream.

  7. Add Tomatoes and Olives
Finish the dip with diced tomatoes and sliced black olives. Garnish with chopped green onions or cilantro, if desired.

Notes

  • To keep the dip fresh, add the guacamole and sour cream layers right before serving to prevent them from browning.
  • For an extra kick, consider adding sliced jalapeños or a dash of chili flakes on top.
  • To make it vegetarian, omit the meat and use extra beans, guacamole, or even salsa.
  • This dip is great with tortilla chips, veggie sticks, or even quesadillas.
