Description

This banana bread is irresistibly moist, sweet, and full of rich banana flavor. It’s the perfect treat for breakfast, a snack, or to share at gatherings. With ingredients you likely already have at home, this easy-to-make banana bread is sure to become your go-to recipe for a comforting, homemade delight.

Ingredients

  • Ripe bananas: 3-4 medium (the riper, the better)
  • Butter: 1/2 cup (113g), melted
  • Eggs: 2 large
  • All-purpose flour: 2 cups (240g)
  • Baking soda: 1 tsp
  • Salt: 1/4 tsp
  • Sugar: 1/2 cup (100g) white sugar + 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar
  • Sour cream: 1/2 cup (120g)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prep:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mash the Bananas:
In a large mixing bowl, peel and mash the bananas using a fork or potato masher. It’s fine if there are a few lumps, but mash as much as possible.
  3. Mix the Wet Ingredients:
To the mashed bananas, add the melted butter, eggs, sugars, and sour cream. Stir until everything is well combined.
  4. Add the Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, stirring just until incorporated—avoid overmixing.
  5. Pour and Bake:
Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan. Spread it out evenly and bake for 60–65 minutes. Check with a toothpick; it should come out clean or with just a few crumbs.
  6. Cool and Serve:
Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

  • Ripe Bananas are Key: The riper the bananas, the better the flavor and sweetness. For faster ripening, place bananas in a brown paper bag.
  • Don’t Overmix: Overmixing can cause the bread to become dense, so mix just enough to combine the ingredients.
  • Add Mix-ins: Feel free to fold in chocolate chips, nuts, or shredded coconut for extra flavor.
