Ingredients
- Fresh asparagus – 1 bunch (about 12-15 stalks)
- Puff pastry – 1 sheet (about 8 oz / 225g, store-bought or homemade)
- Shredded cheese – 1 cup (about 120g; mozzarella and cheddar mix)
- Olive oil – 1 tablespoon
- Salt – to taste (around 1/4 teaspoon)
- Pepper – to taste (around 1/4 teaspoon)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare the Asparagus: Rinse the asparagus, trim the ends, and cut them to size if desired.
- Roll Out the Puff Pastry: On a floured surface, roll the puff pastry to your desired size.
- Add Cheese and Seasoning: Sprinkle a layer of shredded cheese on the pastry, leaving a small border. Season with salt, pepper, or other seasoning like garlic powder.
- Arrange the Asparagus: Place the asparagus on the cheesy pastry, pressing lightly into the cheese.
- Bake: Bake for 15-20 minutes until the pastry is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Serve: Let it cool slightly before slicing into bite-sized pieces.
Notes
- Fresh Asparagus: Opt for thin asparagus stalks as they cook faster and are more tender.
- Lemon: Add a drizzle of fresh lemon juice after baking for extra flavor.
- Cheese Variety: Try parmesan, gruyere, or goat cheese for different tastes.
