Description

This Chocolate Chip Bread combines the softness of freshly baked bread with the sweetness of gooey chocolate chips. A quick and easy recipe, it’s perfect for breakfast, snacks, or as a treat with your favorite cup of coffee or tea.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare the pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan with butter or cooking spray, or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until evenly combined.
  3. Cream the butter and eggs: In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter-egg mixture, alternating with milk. Mix gently until combined—don’t overmix.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  6. Bake the bread: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it out evenly. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If needed, tent with foil to prevent overbrowning.
  7. Cool and slice: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

  • Room Temperature Ingredients: For smoother mixing, ensure your butter, eggs, and milk are at room temperature.
  • Don’t Overmix: Mixing too much can result in a dense loaf. Stir until just combined.
  • Chocolate Chip Variety: Feel free to experiment with dark, milk, or white chocolate chips for different flavors.
  • Add Nuts: Add chopped walnuts or pecans for a crunchy twist.
