Description

These Chopped Steaks are the perfect comfort food—savory, tender, and juicy! Made with ground beef, simple seasonings, and cooked to perfection, they’re the ideal dinner for any night of the week. Serve them with mashed potatoes, sautéed vegetables, or gravy for the ultimate meal.

Ingredients

  • Ground beef (preferably 80% lean) – 1 pound (450g)
  • Onion powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Worcestershire sauce – 1 tablespoon
  • Salt – 1/2 teaspoon (or to taste)
  • Pepper – 1/4 teaspoon (or to taste)
  • Olive oil or butter – 1 tablespoon (for frying)
  • Fresh parsley – 1 tablespoon (optional, for garnish)
  • Optional toppings:
  • Brown gravy – 1/2 cup (optional)
  • Sautéed onions – 1/2 cup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ground Beef Mixture
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with onion powder, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until evenly incorporated, being careful not to overmix.
  2. Shape the Chopped Steaks
Divide the beef mixture into portions and shape them into 1 to 1.5-inch thick patties. Ensure the edges are smooth and even.
  3. Heat the Pan
Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chopped steaks, ensuring not to overcrowd the skillet.
  4. Cook the Steaks
Cook for 4-5 minutes per side or until browned and fully cooked. The internal temperature should be 160°F (71°C) for fully cooked ground beef.
  5. Rest the Steaks
Let the cooked steaks rest on a plate for 3-5 minutes to redistribute the juices.
  6. Serve and Garnish
Serve the chopped steaks with freshly chopped parsley. Optionally, top with brown gravy or sautéed onions.

Notes

  • Don’t Overmix the Beef: Overworking the beef can lead to tough steaks. Mix gently until incorporated.
  • Customize the Seasonings: Add smoked paprika or dried thyme to enhance flavor.
  • Gravy Tip: Add a bit of drippings from the skillet into the gravy for extra flavor.
