- 1–2 lbs cubed steak
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Optional: flour (for coating the steak)
- Optional: 1 tbsp oil (for browning)
- Optional: 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce or sliced mushrooms for added flavor
Instructions
- Prep the Steak: Season cubed steak with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Optionally, coat the steak in flour.
- Brown the Steak (Optional): Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the steak for 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Assemble in Crockpot: Place the seasoned steak in the slow cooker. Add the chopped onion, beef broth, and cream of mushroom soup. Stir to combine.
- Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until steak is tender.
- Final Touches: Stir the gravy, taste, and adjust seasonings. To thicken, mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with water and add to the slow cooker, cooking for another 20-30 minutes.

- If using frozen cubed steak, add 30-45 minutes to the cooking time.
- Can substitute cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken or other variations like cream of celery.
