- 4 slices of ham
- 4 slices of Swiss cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the chicken: Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Stuff the chicken: Place a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss cheese on each chicken breast, then roll it up and secure with toothpicks.
- Cook the chicken: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Brown the chicken on all sides (about 4-5 minutes per side). Transfer the chicken to a baking dish and set aside.
- Make the sauce: In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the chicken broth, Dijon mustard, and heavy cream. Stir to combine, and bring to a simmer. Add thyme, Parmesan cheese, and additional salt and pepper to taste.
- Bake the chicken: Pour the creamy sauce over the chicken in the baking dish. Place it in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked (internal temperature should reach 165°F).
- Serve: Remove the toothpicks from the chicken and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve with mashed potatoes or a side salad.
Notes
- You can use other types of cheese like mozzarella or cheddar, but Swiss cheese gives it the authentic flavor.
- For a lighter version, you can use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
