Description

French Dip Sliders are a delightful twist on the classic French dip sandwich. Tender slices of roast beef are topped with melted cheese and served on soft slider buns, accompanied by a flavorful au jus for dipping. Perfect for a crowd, these sliders are a fun and easy appetizer or meal option for game days, parties, or family dinners.

Ingredients

Units Scale

  • 1 lb roast beef (thinly sliced)
  • 12 slider buns (soft, such as Hawaiian or regular dinner rolls)
  • 4 oz provolone cheese (sliced)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 packet onion soup mix (or 1/2 cup homemade caramelized onions)
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp salt (to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the au jus: In a small saucepan, combine the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, onion soup mix, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 3-5 minutes until well combined and heated through. Remove from heat.

  2. Assemble the sliders: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the slider buns in half and place the bottom half in a baking dish. Layer slices of roast beef on top of the buns, followed by slices of provolone cheese.

  3. Prepare the butter mixture: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with a little bit of the au jus sauce and drizzle it over the top of the sliders. Add a little more salt and pepper if desired.

  4. Bake: Cover the dish with foil and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the sliders are heated through. Remove the foil during the last 5 minutes for a golden brown top.

  5. Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and slice between the sliders. Serve with the remaining au jus sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • You can use any cheese of your choice (Swiss, mozzarella, or cheddar) if you prefer something other than provolone.
  • If you like a bit of spice, consider adding a few slices of pickled jalapeños inside the sliders.
  • For extra flavor, you can caramelize your own onions instead of using onion soup mix.
