Description

These Honey Mustard Chicken & Sausage Skewers are a crowd-pleasing BBQ treat, bursting with juicy chicken and savory sausage, all glazed with a tangy-sweet honey mustard sauce. Perfect for grilling or baking, they come together quickly and deliver delicious, sticky-sweet goodness that will have everyone coming back for more.

Ingredients

  • Chicken breast: 2 large (about 1 pound), cut into 1 to 1.5-inch chunks
  • Sausage: 3-4 links (about 12 oz), your choice of Italian sausage, smoked sausage, or bratwurst, sliced into 1-inch rounds or chunks
  • Honey: 3 tablespoons
  • Dijon mustard: 3 tablespoons
  • Olive oil: 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika: 1 teaspoon
  • Salt: 1/2 teaspoon (or to taste)
  • Pepper: 1/2 teaspoon (or to taste)
  • Wooden or metal skewers: 4-6 (if using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes before use)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Honey Mustard Glaze:
In a small bowl, whisk together honey, Dijon mustard, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Set aside.
  2. Prep the Chicken and Sausage:
Cut chicken breasts into bite-sized chunks (about 1 to 1.5 inches). Slice sausages into rounds or chunks.
  3. Skewer the Chicken and Sausage:
Thread the chicken and sausage onto skewers, alternating between them. Leave some space between each piece for even cooking.
  4. Coat with Honey Mustard Glaze:
Brush the skewered chicken and sausage with the honey mustard glaze. Reserve some glaze for brushing while cooking.
  5. Grill the Skewers:
Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Grill the skewers for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken reaches 165°F (75°C). Brush with glaze while grilling for a caramelized finish.
  6. Serve and Enjoy:
Once skewers are golden brown and cooked through, let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
