Description

Honey mustard ham steaks combine the richness of savory ham with a sweet and tangy honey mustard glaze. Quick and easy to prepare in just 15-20 minutes, this dish is perfect for weeknights or entertaining guests.

Ingredients

  • Ham steaks (bone-in or boneless): 2-4 steaks (about 1 lb or 450g)
  • Honey: 1/4 cup (60ml)
  • Dijon mustard: 2 tablespoons (30g)
  • Apple cider vinegar: 1 tablespoon (15ml)
  • Olive oil: 1 tablespoon (15ml)
  • Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
  • Optional: Cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes (for extra heat)
  • Optional: Fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ham Steaks:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ham steaks and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, until browned and heated through.
  2. Make the Honey Mustard Glaze:
In a small bowl, whisk together honey, Dijon mustard, and apple cider vinegar. If you like heat, add a pinch of cayenne or red pepper flakes.
  3. Coat the Ham Steaks:
Pour the glaze over the cooked ham steaks, turning them to coat both sides. Let the glaze simmer for 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  4. Serve and Enjoy:
Remove the ham steaks from the skillet and serve immediately, drizzling any extra glaze from the pan over the top.

Notes

  • Don’t Overcook: Ham steaks are pre-cooked, so only heat them through. Overcooking can make them tough.
  • Adjust Sweetness: Add more honey for a sweeter glaze, or more mustard/vinegar for a tangier version.
  • For a Smokier Flavor: Use smoked ham steaks.
  • Make-Ahead: The glaze can be prepared up to 3 days ahead and stored in the fridge.
