Description

This delicious Italian sausage, peppers, and onions dish is bursting with flavor and perfect for a hearty meal. The savory sausage pairs perfectly with the sweet peppers and onions, creating a mouthwatering combination.


Ingredients

– 6 (4 ounce) links sweet Italian sausage

– 2 tablespoons butter

– 1 medium yellow onion, sliced

– 1/2 medium red onion, sliced

– 4 cloves garlic, minced

– 1 large red bell pepper, sliced

– 1 medium green bell pepper, sliced

– 1 teaspoon dried basil

– 1 teaspoon dried oregano

– 1/4 cup white wine, or more to taste


Instructions

1. In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove from skillet and slice into coins.

2. In the same skillet, melt butter and add onions and garlic. Cook until onions are translucent.

3. Add bell peppers, basil, and oregano. Cook until peppers are tender.

4. Add the sliced sausage back to the skillet and pour in the white wine. Cook until wine has reduced.

5. Serve hot and enjoy!


Notes

For a spicier version, use hot Italian sausage instead of sweet.

This dish is great served over pasta or on a hoagie roll for a sandwich.
