Description

Limoncello Tiramisu is a refreshing twist on the classic Italian dessert. With layers of airy mascarpone cream, delicate ladyfingers soaked in zesty limoncello liqueur, and a touch of lemon zest, this dessert brings the perfect balance of sweetness and citrus tang. It’s an elegant and flavorful treat that will wow your guests at any gathering.

Ingredients

  • Ladyfingers (savoiardi) – 1 package (around 24 pieces, depending on the size of the dish)
  • Limoncello liqueur – 1/2 cup (120 ml)
  • Mascarpone cheese – 8 oz (227g)
  • Heavy cream – 1 cup (240 ml)
  • Powdered sugar – 1/4 cup (30g)
  • Lemon zest (freshly grated) – 2 tablespoons (about 1 lemon)
  • Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh lemon juice – 2 tablespoons (1 medium lemon)
  • Optional garnish: Lemon zest or fresh berries – As desired (a few teaspoons of lemon zest or a handful of berries like raspberries or blueberries)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Limoncello Soak: In a shallow dish, pour the limoncello and add a small splash of fresh lemon juice. Set aside.
  2. Make the Mascarpone Cream: Beat together mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon zest until smooth and creamy (3-4 minutes).
  3. Assemble the Tiramisu: Briefly dip ladyfingers in the limoncello mixture, lay them in the bottom of a dish, and spread half of the mascarpone cream over them.
  4. Add the Second Layer: Repeat the process with remaining ladyfingers and spread the remaining mascarpone cream.
  5. Chill and Set: Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with lemon zest or fresh berries before serving.

Notes

  • Don’t Over-Dip the Ladyfingers: A quick dip is enough to soak them without them becoming soggy.
  • Adjust the Limoncello: Feel free to add more limoncello for a stronger flavor.
  • Mascarpone Substitution: Cream cheese can be used instead of mascarpone but may alter the flavor and texture.
  • Lemon Zest: Use freshly grated lemon zest to enhance the citrus flavor.
