Description
Warm up with this cozy mulled wine recipe, infused with spices and citrus for the perfect winter drink.
Ingredients
– 750 ml dry, fruity red wine (1 bottle)
– 2 cups apple cider
– 1/4 cup honey
– 1 orange, zested and juiced
– 5 whole cloves
– 4 green cardamom pods
– 2 cinnamon sticks
– 1 whole star anise
– 1/4 cup brandy
– Orange slices for garnish
– Cinnamon sticks for garnish
Instructions
1. In a large pot, combine the red wine, apple cider, honey, orange zest and juice, cloves, cardamom pods, cinnamon sticks, and star anise.
2. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
3. Once simmering, reduce heat to low and let it steep for 20-30 minutes.
4. Stir in the brandy and continue to heat for another 5 minutes.
5. Remove from heat and strain out the spices.
6. Serve hot in mugs, garnished with orange slices and cinnamon sticks.
Notes
– For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the brandy.
– Feel free to adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey to taste.
