These no yeast cinnamon rolls are a quick and easy treat to make at home. Perfect for a cozy breakfast or dessert!
Ingredients
- – 2/3 cup whole milk
- – 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
- – 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, divided
- – 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- – 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
- – 1/4 teaspoon salt
- – 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- – 2 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- – Cream Cheese Icing:
- – 2 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
- – 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
- – 1/4 teaspoon salt
- – 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- – 2 tablespoons whole milk
- – 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and grease a 9-inch round baking dish.
2. In a saucepan, heat the milk and 4 tablespoons of butter until the butter is melted. Remove from heat.
3. In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, baking powder, 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, and salt. Stir in the milk mixture to form a dough.
4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a rectangle. Spread the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter on top.
5. In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over the dough.
6. Roll up the dough tightly and cut into 12 rolls. Place in the baking dish.
7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
8. While the rolls are baking, prepare the cream cheese icing by mixing all the icing ingredients until smooth.
9. Drizzle the icing over the warm cinnamon rolls before serving.
Notes
– To make these cinnamon rolls even more indulgent, add chopped nuts or raisins to the filling.
– For a quicker version, use store-bought crescent roll dough instead of making the dough from scratch.
