Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Breadsticks:

  • 1 package refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade dough)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese (or cheddar cheese)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Philly Cheesesteak Filling:

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Serving:

  • Marinara sauce or ranch dressing (optional for dipping)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cheesesteak Filling

  1. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the onions and bell peppers (if using) and sauté for about 4–5 minutes until they soften.
  3. Add the garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.
  4. Add the thinly sliced steak to the skillet and cook, stirring frequently, until browned and cooked through, about 5–6 minutes.
  5. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.

Step 2: Prepare the Breadsticks

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle.
  3. Evenly spread the steak mixture across the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and provolone cheese (or your preferred cheese) over the steak.
  5. Roll up the dough like a jelly roll, starting from the longer side, and pinch the edges to seal.
  6. Slice the rolled dough into 1-inch slices and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 3: Bake the Breadsticks

  1. Brush the tops of the breadsticks with olive oil and sprinkle with a pinch of salt.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15–18 minutes, or until the breadsticks are golden and the cheese is melted.

Step 4: Serve

  1. Serve the Philly cheesesteak stuffed breadsticks warm with marinara sauce or ranch dressing for dipping.

Notes

  • Meat options: You can also use ground beef or chicken as a substitute for steak.
  • Extra veggies: Feel free to add mushrooms or spinach for extra flavor and nutrition.
  • Cheese variations: Try adding cream cheese or cheddar cheese for a different cheesy experience.
  • Freezing: These breadsticks can be frozen before baking. Bake from frozen by adding a few extra minutes to the cooking time.
