Grits:
- 4 cups chicken broth (low sodium or no sodium added)
- 1 cup stone-ground grits
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup heavy cream

- 2 tablespoons butter
Shrimp:
- 1 pound large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
- 4 slices bacon (chopped)
- 1 small onion (finely diced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 cup chicken broth (low sodium)
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook Grits: In a saucepan, bring chicken broth to a boil, stir in grits, salt, and garlic powder. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 20-25 minutes. Stir in cream, cheese, and butter until melted.
- Cook Shrimp: In a skillet, cook bacon until crispy. Add onion, garlic, paprika, cayenne, and thyme. Add shrimp, broth, and lemon juice. Cook until shrimp is pink and cooked through.
- Serve shrimp over grits, garnish with parsley.
Notes
- You can adjust the spice level by adding more or less cayenne pepper.
- Feel free to customize the toppings with additional herbs or cheese.
