Ingredients
- Shrimp (peeled and deveined) – 1/2 pound (about 225g)
- Unsalted butter (room temperature) – 1/2 cup (1 stick or 113g)
- Garlic (minced) – 2 cloves
- Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon
- Fresh parsley (chopped) – 2 tablespoons
- Salt – 1/2 teaspoon (or to taste)
- Pepper – 1/4 teaspoon (or to taste)
- Paprika (optional) – 1/4 teaspoon
Instructions
-
Cook the Shrimp: In a medium skillet, melt butter or olive oil over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
-
Blend the Shrimp: Chop the shrimp finely or pulse them in a food processor. Avoid making a paste—just finely minced shrimp.
-
Make the Butter: In a bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, lemon juice, and chopped shrimp. Add salt, pepper, and paprika (optional) to taste.
-
Mix in Fresh Parsley: Stir in chopped parsley to finish.
-
Chill and Serve: Roll the butter into a log using plastic wrap, refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to meld the flavors. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
- Fresh shrimp makes the best shrimp butter. Ensure frozen shrimp is thawed and drained properly.
- You can add red pepper flakes for extra spice.
- If you don’t have a food processor, finely chop the shrimp by hand.
