For the Smash Burgers
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp butter
- 4 slices cheddar or American cheese
- 4 burger buns, toasted
- Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions
For the Baconnaise Sauce
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 3 slices crispy bacon, finely chopped
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Baconnaise Sauce
- In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, chopped bacon, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, lemon juice, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Mix well and refrigerate until ready to use.
Step 2: Prepare the Smash Burgers
- Divide the ground beef into 8 equal balls (about 3 oz each). Season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and add a little butter.
- Place 2–3 beef balls in the skillet (don’t overcrowd). Use a spatula to firmly smash each ball into a thin patty. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the edges are crispy.
- Flip the patties and immediately add a slice of cheese. Cook for another 1–2 minutes until melted.
Step 3: Assemble the Burgers
- Spread a generous amount of baconnaise sauce on each toasted bun.
- Layer two patties per burger (double up for extra juiciness).
- Add any additional toppings you like and sandwich with the top bun.
Step 4: Serve & Enjoy!
- Serve hot with fries, chips, or a side salad. Enjoy the juiciest, crispiest burger experience!
Notes
- Bacon Lovers: Double the bacon in the sauce for extra smokiness.
- Spice It Up: Add a dash of hot sauce to the baconnaise or sprinkle red pepper flakes on the patties.
- Caramelized Onions: Sauté onions in the skillet before cooking the burgers for a sweet, savory addition.
- Storage: Store leftover patties and sauce separately in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat gently in a skillet.
