Description

If you’ve ever tasted a rich, creamy vodka sauce, you know just how magical it can be. This homemade vodka sauce is luxuriously smooth, packed with deep flavors, and the perfect complement to any pasta dish. It’s quick, easy, and will soon become your go-to sauce—never going back to store-bought again!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup vodka
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh basil, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Sauté the Aromatics: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook for about 5 minutes until soft and translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  2. Deglaze with Vodka: Add vodka to the pan, allowing it to cook off for 2-3 minutes on medium-low heat.
  3. Add Tomatoes and Tomato Paste: Stir in crushed tomatoes and tomato paste, bringing everything to a simmer. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Let simmer for 10-15 minutes to blend the flavors.
  4. Stir in the Cream: Slowly add in heavy cream, stirring until the sauce turns a creamy pink color. Let it cook for another 5 minutes.
  5. Taste and Adjust: Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning with salt, pepper, or more vodka if desired.
  6. Serve and Garnish: Toss the vodka sauce with your favorite pasta and garnish with fresh basil. Serve hot!

Notes

  • Don’t skip the vodka—it enhances the flavor without leaving an alcoholic taste.
  • If you like extra creaminess, feel free to add more heavy cream.
  • Let the sauce simmer long enough to fully develop its rich, deep flavor.
